i live on charnwood- it's 1 block north of summer and off of hancock. someone tried to break into my boyfriend's car last night (he used to live in the back bay in boston; this is the FOURTH time his car has been broken into or attempted to be broken into) and broke both the locks. anyone else around here have something happen?

Yikes! I live a block from you on Willow. I didn't notice anything funny happening to my car, though. I'm sorry it happened!

Jeez, that's about two blocks from me. Gah. Nothing has happened at my place so far, though.

There have been a couple posts about smashed windows recently. Is this the Fourth time his car was attempted to be broken into here in Somerville? I am not sure why you mentioned back bay? Do you know what time it happened. What time he left his car and when he noticed it?

And I am wondering if maybe someone is targeting cars without permits? does he have a Somerville permit? was he using a guess pass or parking on a streat that does not require permits?

that's weird - I filed a report about my busted car window over the phone. Took like 2 minutes.

yeah- my car window got smashed on Highland last week. Google map time? Detect a pattern? (wouldn't it be a hoot if there were actually a "path" (or is it a swath) that lead right to someone's house.

A friend's apartment on Charnwood was broken into last year. Several laptops and iPods were stolen.

Two words on that issue: RENTERS INSURANCE!

It's WAY cheap, (less than $300 a year) and you can have computer/electronic gear written explicitly into your policy. I learned my lesson after a house fire last year took out our third floor apartment and tens of thousands of dollars in computer equipment.

That's so twisted, too. I'm on Hancock at Summer...Charnwood is a tiny, one-way, two-block street. Why would random crime happen there?

if you want to see what other crime has been going on near you, the somerville journal runs a police blotter every issue. it's also available online.
