Tomorrow (Tuesday Aug. 1st) there are going to be afternoon block parties all over Boston. Some of the main ones are marked on this map.

This is a nation-wide event, run by the neighborhood watch people. Does anyone know of any block parties in Somerville/Davis?

This year's celebration will take place in Foss Park. As a prelude to the evening’s events, Family Swim will be held from 10:00 a.m. through 5:00 p.m. at the Foss Park Pool.

“Night Out” activities begin at 4:00 p.m. and will include:

A Youth Obstacle Course sponsored by the Somerville Recreation Department and the Somerville Youth Program;
A K-9 Unit presentation by the State Police;
Child ID kits by the Somerville Police and
Youth Arts & Activity tables.
Live entertainment begins at 6:00 p.m. and will include performances by the Sunsetters, JP Dancing, and Girlz II Women.

The evening will conclude with free popcorn donated by the Somerville Theatre and a screening of the Disney movie "Hocus Pocus" at dusk.
