I'm looking for a good optometrist in Davis Square and surroundings. An eye-related issue has arisen and I actually need an appointment for today. Does anyone know of a good one? Any I should avoid? Thanks!

I had an eye related issue last fall that I ended up going to the Mass Eye and Ear Infirmary's emergency room for because I couldn't get looked at anyplace else on short notice (although limitations based on my insurance were part of that). Anyway, it's not in davis, but they were quite good, other than the slight creepiness of having one of their interns watching everything (since it's a teaching hospital and all).

I would suggest avoiding the Sarragas Eye & Laser Center on Highland (purple sign) unless they are the only place that will see you at short notice.

I like Dr. Bonny Weingarten at Parrelli Optical in Porter Square. But it's been a couple of years since my last exam, so I'm not 100% sure she's still there.

Really? I went there just two weeks ago with an eye injury and they fit me in only hours after I called for an appointment. They seemed professional and nice to me.

I like the guy I see at Parelli too, I think his last name is George?

I go to General Optical on Mass Ave in Porter. I find dr. Sylvia to bve helpful and patient ... exactly what I want in my doctor. They were upfront with pricing and procedure. And, the woman who helped me pick out my frames was a total riot!

Coming in a little late, but I'll third that recommendation. MEEI is amazing. I only have one functional eye, so whenever anything comes up with it I get a little freaked out. And, as it happens, I've had more than my fair share of things come up over the years. The last time (http://yakshaver.livejournal.com/6095.html) something came up, I made the mistake of going to my (then) regular every-other-year eye exam guy. And only after what he prescribed made it much worse going to MEEI. Not a mistake I'll repeat.
