I'm moving into the area this weekend and need to buy a bed. Any recommendations for places that you've had good luck with in the Cambridge/Somerville area that deliver?

Years ago, I got one from Mattress Discounters at Fresh Pond, and it seems OK.

I found Mattress Discounters pretty expensive. If you can get a ride up to Jordan's Furniture (about 1/2 hour drive) they have lots of good stuff at a little over half the price and free delivery. Still more expensive than a futon though.

If you're interested, I have a really good futon mattress that I'd be happy to sell you for $100. It's one of those memory foam/cotton blends, and it cost me a little over $400, and I only slept on it for a year.

I bought a futon mattress at a place in Central Square a year and a half ago (or maybe 2?), which they delivered up two flights of stairs, including one rather narrow and steep set. I think it was Bedworks (http://www.bedworks.net/).

I have used mattress giant and got a good deal - but I hear a lot of good things about dial-a-mattress as well. Supposedly you can get any of the big brands you want cheaper than regular stores, and they definitely deliver.

We got a split queen box spring from Dial a Mattress a while ago and they were great. The Guy on the phone was knowledgeable and the delivery guys were on time. They offered some good deals, too. Best of all, they took away our old box spring. (Probably not a problem for you, but still. . )
