armory/castle building on highland

does anyone know what's going on with that huge gray armory/castle like building about a mile out on highland? there's a central back sign out front that says they're financing the project. but it seems like nothing is ever going on whenever i pass by. what's the deal?

That used to be a national guard armory, sold at auction a year or two ago to -- i think -- the owner(s) of the middle east club in central square.

I remember hearing that they were talking about making it an artist/performance space, but I don't know what the final plan is for it.

I've seen workers doing exterior work on it within the past 2 months or so.

Well that's good news. It'll be interesting to see how it develops.

They sent out a call for artists to aply for a space (live/work I believe) a month or so ago. Though it certainly doesn't look like it's going to be habitable any time soon... But sometimes these things get done quite quickly, so it may happen soon. Too bad the cafe and performance spaces didn't open sooner, since we live right behind the place and are just now moving.
