I saw this posting in the Somerville Arts Council mailing list, and I thought I'd repost it here to give it a wider exposure, in case some "non-artists" didn't see it.
THE SOMERVILLE ARTS COUNCIL
JOB ANNOUNCEMENT
POSITION: Program Director
PROGRAM: Books of Hope
TERMS: Contractual $22 per hour
20 hours per week for approx. 10 months, not to exceed 900 hrs.
QUALIFICATIONS: Professional writing background. Minimum three years
experience working with youth in an arts education setting; experience
developing and evaluating arts curriculum; experience with diverse inner
city youth. Masters Degree/State Certification preferred; bilingual skills
(Spanish or Haitian Kreyol) a plus.
Art Without Walls is a collaborative project designed to provide free arts
programming to low-income Somerville youth in partnership with
community-based youth service agencies. Books of Hope is an after school
component, primarily serving teens residing in the Mystic Housing
Development. It focuses on increasing literacy skills and self-esteem
through writing books of autobiography, poetry, fiction and non-fiction.
The Program Director manages all aspects of program development,
implementation and evaluation. S/he reports to and works cooperatively with
the Director of the Somerville Arts Council and the Director of the Mystic
Learning Center. See:

Duties include:
1. Oversee all aspects of Books of Hope, including: program planning,
curriculum and evaluation development; designing program structure,
objectives and timelines; documenting all program activities.
2. Recruit 15 to 20 participants.
3. Supervise Program Assistant.
4. Recruit and supervise necessary program volunteers and interns.
5. Recruit and supervise guest artists and speakers.
6. Prepare student work for publication, including editing and
preparation of digital files for design and layout, for both print and web
distribution.
7. Organize, coordinate and publicize participant author events
(readings, book parties, fieldtrips).
8. Maintain an inventory of printed books.
9. Oversee sales of books and ensure that proceeds go to authors.
10. Develop a plan for distribution and marketing of BOH publications.
11. Assist Directors of the Arts Council and Mystic Learning Center with
fundraising as necessary.
12. Fulfill all evaluation and final reporting requirements of major
funders (including Massachusetts Cultural Council Youth Reach Grant
Program).
13. Represent BOH at conferences and meetings.
