My fiance and I are looking to get Married either outside somewhere near Davis or inside our church which is about 3 or 4 blocks from Davis. we would also like to have the reception in or near Davis Square.

Unfortunately we are coming at this completely blind. Does anyone know of places for wedding or receptions near Davis?

We were thinking Seven Hills Park for the ceremony but were not sure about a reception. Any direction would be greatly appreciated.

it's pretty, we've used that space for meetings before...

Is it really expensive? I looked into it a long time ago and I totally forget how much it is to rent.

The old Buck a Book location is still available, unless it becomes Halloween Screams again next month.

Back room at the Burren?

The park at Powderhouse (Nathan Tufts Park) is much prettier than Seven Hills. It's very leafy and has plenty of room. I even saw a wedding there once, and other kinds of gatherings (a family reunion, a bag-piper party).

How big will your guest list be? Knowing that would make suggestions for reception sites easier.

Somerville has one other "scenic" park, on top of Prospect Hill. Great view of the Boston skyline.

Friends had a lovely anniversary party at the Somerville Museum--that might be an option worth exploring.

How about Jimmy Tingle's theater?

I would totally do that if I were getting married! But then, I'm a theatre person. :-)

For another outdoor ceremony location, what about the hatch shell off Route 16 in Medford? I don't know if that is city- or state-owned.

For an indoor reception, I always see limos pull up to Anthony's on the corner of Highland and Central. See http://www.anthonysfunctions.com/

If you are having a very small wedding, the little building at powderhouse park (not the actual powderhouse, the other one) is city-owned and can be reserved for functions. It holds very few people but is very nice and I think may not cost any money.
