Sep. 19th, 2006 10:35 pmI have a dead garbage disposal that's making life in my kitchen less-than fun. Especially when the sink backs up when one runs the dishwasher.
Anyone know a good local plumber in the Medford Square / Davis Square area?

Call between 7 and 8 am (that's when he's in the office and schedules.) You can call later and leave a message and he will get back to you, but the 7-8 window is definitely the way to go.
He knows his stuff, and does great work *at a reasonable price.*
He came out in the middle of the night last winter, in bad weather, and only charged me about $300 for over an hour with parts for a midnight-2am emergency. (For comparison, Pann charged $400 to install a stove, which took half an hour and which had been scheduled a week in advance during regular business hours.)

Date: 2006-09-20 03:22 am (UTC)them things are generally like light bulbs. literally. more than a few just have an outlet too... unplug, then with a mighty heave ho, they twist out of a locking ring. throw away. for the cost of a new one from say sears?
little more work if you have to kill the power, and play with the wire twists. given that i've actually replaced several of these stupid things, i'd prefer to have an outlet... so installing one of those is a good thing.
the dishwasher has a connector frob in there too... you'll want a bucket to slop the hose into. that's about it. it's ALMOST toolless, and a plumber is just going to nail you for cost of unit (he gets a discount probably), and his time, and ... oiy.
so, goodluck
