I just wanted to share a story about the Gentle Dental in Porter and how they screwed up my fiance's teeth. I plan on telling this story to as many people as possible.

Awhile back James decided to go there for some routine dental work such as cleaning, x-rays etc. Then he wanted to discuss taking out all his old old fillings and replacing them with newer material because he also didnt like the metal look. They told him that some old work he had done when he was a kid was just about on its last legs and needed to be replaced and the best option would be to get porcelain veneers in the front which was fine by us. They did the molds, temporaries and such. Now I was skeptical about getting such a big job done there because I generally dont like Gentle Dental I prefer a stand alone office but that was just my feeling.

When he went in for his appt. to get the temporaries taken off and the real veneers put on the dentist made a comment "wow, look at these babies they are pretty thick huh" and laughed. Now James didnt know any better and sorta laughed along with him. He went home with instructions on how to take care of them properly, to expect some bleeding for the first bit, and what ever else they said. Fast forward a few months and James front teeth (he only got the front 4 teeth done) are pretty thick, big, and his gums bleed after brushing. We call and they say use a different brush and try this special mouthwash. Now another month goes by and his gums bleed if we kiss too hard, if he eats, basically they bleed anytime his mouth is being used.

He goes in and they tell him he needs to use a prescription mouthwash and take an antibiotic and come back a month later. It doesnt work. So last month they make him have some sort of gum surgery...basically they said his teeth were too big and the gums never grew over them properly because they were too thick. So they cut his gums open to the root, clean them, stitch him up (a lot of stitches!) and say come back in a month and if it isnt better i guess we will replace the teeth. They arent too sympathetic either...not nice.

Now i look at his teeth/gums and its definitely not better. If anything there is a gap between the gum and two teeth at the top where food constantly is clogging up and flossing doesnt work. When he goes in tomorrow they are planning on scheduling an appt to redo his veneers for free. Now if they are doing them for free I feel they def. know they did something wrong!!! My stepom has worked in dentistry for years and told me that shitty dental offices when they get the veneers from the lab will not send them back because it costs them time/money and usually put them in anyways, and any reputable place will never do that. She said even though the lab made the veneers wrong it is still the dentists fault for putting them in and making him go through all this undue work. Plus we have been paying for all the presciptions, gum surgery etc etc and that we have a case to sue. Now it isnt that I want to sue I just am worried about him getting his teeth re-done and having problems again.

Any opinions on what we should do. Also just a warning about getting major dental services done there.

Wow, I'm sorry to hear this!
I also had an extremely negative experience with them (involving a crown). I will never return, and found a great dentist: Peter Goldstone on Hurley Street in Cambridge (right by the Galleria).
