mattress store recommendations?

Hi all,

I checked the history and couldn't find any posts on mattresses, so I hope this isn't a repeat. If it is, I apologize. I've been sleeping on a full-size futon for over a year and am ready to upgrade to a queen-size innerspring mattress. I'd check craigslist, but I'm squeamish about used beds. I went into Mattress Discounters in Downtown Crossing today and had a really bizarre experience, and am hoping for recommendations on where I can get a decent mattress that will last for around $300. Does such a thing exist? I hope so.

Also, I read some postings elsewhere about Big John's Mattress Factory, but when I called to check their hours the number was disconnected. Does anyone know about that...?

Not in Boston, per se, but Bob's has quite acceptable full & queen mattresses for about $300 (though I hven't been in there in 4 years so costs may have gone up). They do deliver to boston/cambridge, but charge extra (not much though--like $30)
