PC Repair Needed Tout Suite
Oct. 6th, 2006 07:51 amMy beloved Microcenter-purchased writing machine has decided that the power supply needs to make an absolutely horrible noise while the fan doesn't move air quite as well as it should. I could take it back to Microcenter, but I have the feeling I'd get a bit hosed and it's sort of a haul without cabbing it.
Of course, I have a deadline on Monday, so I really don't want to screw around too much and have my machine go up in flames at my own hands. Is there a reputable repair shop in the (preferably Davis) area that can just switch out the power supply on Saturday? While I'm at it, I wouldn't complain if another 512k of memory found its way into the system, but that's completely secondary.
(Alternately, if there's one of you locals that can manage to do such a thing tomorrow morning -early afternoon, I would pay real cash moneys.)
Thanks!

Date: 2006-10-06 01:07 pm (UTC)If you happened to have a spare on hand for some odd reason or could go get one before tomorrow fire me an e-mail at TheRef310 (at) Yahoo (dot) com. I'd be a helluva lot cheaper than a store.

Date: 2006-10-06 02:19 pm (UTC)I'm already used to the idea of other people's "incredibly simple" repairs being my "Oh my god why is there smoke coming out of that?!?" moment.
But thanks for your help.

Date: 2006-10-07 05:34 am (UTC)so i could probably use a new battery, but more importantly i'm wondering if i can get the connection fixed. i have already tried buying a new a/c adapter, which worked for a couple months but also became finicky.
suggestions? i was planning to take it to microcenter.
