My beloved Microcenter-purchased writing machine has decided that the power supply needs to make an absolutely horrible noise while the fan doesn't move air quite as well as it should. I could take it back to Microcenter, but I have the feeling I'd get a bit hosed and it's sort of a haul without cabbing it.

Of course, I have a deadline on Monday, so I really don't want to screw around too much and have my machine go up in flames at my own hands. Is there a reputable repair shop in the (preferably Davis) area that can just switch out the power supply on Saturday? While I'm at it, I wouldn't complain if another 512k of memory found its way into the system, but that's completely secondary.

(Alternately, if there's one of you locals that can manage to do such a thing tomorrow morning -early afternoon, I would pay real cash moneys.)

Thanks!

I know how to do both things, (and just had to do it in my computer as well, my power supply and stick of RAM died on me a week after each other...), but you'd need to get the parts, seeing how I'm kinda stranded right now.
If you happened to have a spare on hand for some odd reason or could go get one before tomorrow fire me an e-mail at TheRef310 (at) Yahoo (dot) com. I'd be a helluva lot cheaper than a store.

well since we're at it, my laptop has a connection problem with the a/c adapter. the connection is finicky and if it moves slightly, it will lose power (since my battery is also old and doesn't hold a charge).

so i could probably use a new battery, but more importantly i'm wondering if i can get the connection fixed. i have already tried buying a new a/c adapter, which worked for a couple months but also became finicky.

suggestions? i was planning to take it to microcenter.

those are two incredibly simple repairs/upgrades.

your best bet is to do it yourself :)

i replaced the power supply and added more memory to my computer in like 20 minutes :)

???? i was just saying don't be daunted when you're in a bind because the issues aren't hard to fix yourself without having hardware experience...
