We have a bunch of new projects in the pipeline and are looking to ramp up the number of fulltime software developers we have.
Dimagi (www.dimagi.com) is a socially conscious, young software firm focused on making technologies work for improving healthcare for underserved populations in the US and the developing world. Our projects include managing HIV care and immunization records, building a full electronic medical record for Zambia on smart cards, modifying a medical system in Kenya, developing an open shared standard for securely exchanging documents and wikis in the US for underserved communities, building a PDA decision support platform for triaging HIV patients in South Africa, and building a Cancer Care Coordination web server to assist in better management of patients. Our founders include the winner of the
2004 Tech Review Humanitarian of the Year, two MDs, a Paul and Daisy Soros New American, and a Department of Homeland Security Fellow.
We are looking for a full-time programmer to join our core team and help develop on various projects. The ideal candidate will be someone for whom the idea of working for a large organization with longer timelines is not appealing. Rather, he or she would rather work R&D and prototype levels of projects and multitask several of them at a time. Our engagements last from from weeks to years, but we have a fast-paced environment and are always working on multiple projects at once. The ideal candidate will also be someone who desires to make a direct impact in improving global healthcare as well as improving healthcare in general for developed and developing countries alike (desire to travel abroad encouraged).
Required Skills:
- Strong programming skills in .NET and / or Java (and the ability to learn - the other)
- Strong organizational skills
- Excellent technical documentation
- Self-managed
- Ability to communicate effectively
- Enjoys multi-tasking and multiple projects
Desired Skills:
- Database programming knowledge
- ASP.NET / JSP programming experience
- *Nix administration
- PDA Development experience
- GUI design.
This person will be taking on the following roles in the organization:
- Development on various projects
- Project Management
- Lead client contact
- Sales (if desired)
- Business Development research (if desired)
This opportunity offers a tremendous amount of freedom to target your own interests and grow your skill set as well as make a real impact in the developed and developing world alike. Please e-mail jobs@dimagi.com with your resume and cover letter.
