So, here I am in my still-fairly-new-to-me house, and I've noticed that the heating system on the second floor doesn't seem to be working. The house has gas heat, baseboard heaters, and 4 zones: first floor, first floor extension, second floor, hot water. All of the zones except for the second floor are getting heat. Can anyone suggest a repair person?

First off, let me say: Angie's List. If you don't have a membership, talk to someone who does have one; if you own the house, get a membership -- it pays for itself in no time.

Second: In my experience one-zone-doesn't-heat problems are as often as not the thermostat, so before you shell out any money for heating repairs you should try swapping the thermostats of two zones and see of the no-heat problem moves with the thermostat.

I've been happy with Peterson Plumbing since my last apartment: 617 776-8704. I know they work on forced hot water furnaces since that's what I have!

I can't help you but I got so excited when I saw Scrapped Princess I wanted to comment. :P

Sorry...

The folks from Winters Plumbing once solved a minor heating problem for me over the phone for no charge. It was about this time of year last year, in fact. ;)

I found them off of Angie's List.
