Its way too cold to go out for dinner, so I want to order Chinese. I hate the two chinese take out places near my house on Broadway/Teele Sq.

Any suggestions who does GOOD take out near Davis/Union/Teele sq?

Edit: Thanks everyone :) We are trying Dragon Garden since it got a high rating on that great link someone posted below. Damn, I love the internet!

[livejournal.com profile] terrajen and [livejournal.com profile] lunarbull renamed that entire block "the cock block" because it has wangs, pinis, and woody's. :D

It's awesome. Be sure to order something from the Northern Chinese menu.

Seconded (well, fifthed or tenthed, I guess). Wang’s is my second-favourite fast-food Chinese place (i.e., order at the counter; the ambiance isn’t really fast-food). (My first-favourite is in Quincy; Wang’s is certainly my favourite in the Greater Camberville Region.)

I eat at Dragon Garden plenty, because it’s convenient to Diesel Café, and it’s fine, but it’s not special. Wang’s is special.

Well, I like East Asia in Powderhouse Circle. Chicken Himaparn is a favourite (chicken, vegetables in spicy coconut sauce with cashews) but I've never had a disappointing dish from them. Their number is 617 666 8282.

I'm fond of Wang's, on Broadway between Ball and Magoun Squares. They have lots of yummy dumplings. I think you can find their menu on Tufts' website somewhere.

You're thinking http://www.tuftslife.com/dining, which is one of the awesomest local web sites ever.

Dragon Garden's pretty good, but I can't trust that site's ratings after seeing it gave the Golden Light three stars.

Golden Light is open late, and that's all it has going for it. Even the China Sun is better.

The ratings are a bit trippy sometimes. They make more sense if you remember they're being submitted by undergrads, and think back to what your undergrad food priorities were ;).

But the little icons about whether places are open and whether they deliver? And the online menus? Priceless.

oooh my favorite is Rose's, on boston ave, right by the danish pastry house. man, they have some killer sweet&sour chicken. just make sure to ask for your food WITH NO MSG. when i forget, my face is SO bloated the next day. ugh. but really, delish food.

I like Rose's, but some of their dishes are way better than others, so it can be hit or miss. (The tofu with vegetables in garlic sauce = yum.)

Too bad about the Yum Yum closing. That place was my favorite Chinese restaurant in Boston by FAR.

these dorkwads have no clue what they're talking about. China Sun in davis is the bestest chinese in town. http://www.tuftslife.com/dining/menuview.php?ID=00010
free white rice, people! free white rice!

China Sun is indeed pretty reliable.

I see that the Yum Yum has been replaced by a place called "Sesame" that is conspicuously absent from TuftsLife. Has anyone been there? The menu seems to have the "Ants on a Tree" or "Ants on a String" dish that I loved, renamed as the less evocative "Ground Beef with Clear Bean Noodle." Do they still have other Sichuan fare? Or the Chinese-only menu?

i have ordered from sesame via foodler and it is pretty good. their dumplings are huge, you get like a bazillion for a small price and they are delicious. their lemon chicken is reprehensibly awful. i suspect they are best for the more authentic fair and american-chinese regulars like general tsao's chicken and such are not their specialty. they took forever to deliver.

If you ordered it via Foodler, I'm not sure you can really fault the restaurant for slow delivery....

Foodler just sends the order to the restaurant, they don't deliver it for them.

If Sesame is the place on Broadway near the coffee shop across from the gas station, I don't like them.

There's a great Chinese place on Broadway past Teele Sq about 2/3 of the way to route 16, that I can't remember the name of. It's cheap and generic-sounding and seems relatively unknown, but it's actually rather unusual and very good. And I can't seem to find it on Google Maps now :(

Dragon Garden is my favorite Davis Square place, but that one on Broadway is much better IIRC.

That place is Sesame and everyone in this thread is hating on it. I like that place way more than China Sun. They've got decent Kung Pao.

I know this post is old, but FYI -
I find these to be most authentic:
Qingdao Garden on Mass Ave
Wang's
Zoe's (on Beacon near Petsi's Pie)
Further out -
Try Mulan, it's Taiwanese, I love it (but I'm totally biased). It's near the Garment District next to Beauty's.
They all devlier.
