Recently, I joined the ranks of the self-employed. I love what I do, but I feel rather isolated during the day. For the most part, I work in cafes. Being around people helps but I would like to have some "collegues" that I see on a daily basis and have a better sense of community. I'm looking for office space populated by the self-employed or (very) small businesses.
My ideal is the the San Francisco Writer's Grotto, a collective workspace that houses over thirty writers and filmakers. They each work on their own craft but they are surround by people with similar goals who understand where they are coming from. It's a place where they can walk over to someone else's office when they get stuck and chat for a while, bounce ideas off of each other. It's a place where people each lunch together and chat over their latest book. I'm look for the equivalent for entrepreneurs/self-employed.
Do you know of any space that resembles this in the Boston area? Any office space for the self-employed? Do you know anyone I should talk to? I'm just starting my search. Any suggestions you have will be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

I too am jealous of the Grotto. Some day if I'm ever self-employed or telecommuting I'd absolutely want something like that to exist for me.
