Hi DS fans and residents,
I am considering going to a naturalist/herbist. Anyone have experience with this? Anyone good around that you would offer?

True confessions: I have no idea what I am doing!

I believe that they have folks at the Marino Center on Mass Ave who are herbalists?

Hmm, maybe not. Looks like Jing Liu (Acupuncturist) is trained in Traditional Chinese Medicine, he might be able to help you? I saw Ping Yao for Acupuncture and really liked her!

Maybe not, but it is important to note that their primary care docs are very open to the more natural healing modalities, I've seen two of the primary docs there (Dr. Trapasso and Dr. McCaffrey) and they're great! It's always a good idea to make sure your primary doc is on board with whatever you are trying to accomplish. Best of luck to you!

do you have anything more specific you're looking for? this area has holistic doctors, naturopaths, homeopaths, herbalists that specialize in western herbs, herbalists that specialize in traditional chinese medicine, etc. etc. so it might help people answer your question if they had a better idea of what you're looking for.

If you don't know what you are doing, you might get ripped off or, at best, waste money. If you have a specific condition, consult with your doctor. Also it might be worth checking out what people on the web think of your new medications.

You may not want to share with a live journal community why you are seeking an herbalist, but I recommend Mischa Shuler www.wildcarrot.org as someone I know who is sensitive, nice, and knowledgeable.

I know of a great one, but she's in Maine... Maine Coast Herbals - Mary Joan Mondello (http://www.maineherbs.com/questions-comments.html) She might do consultations over the phone, or perhaps know of someone more local (since she's originally from the Boston area), or you could just ask her what she recommends on her website.
