what are they building on Elm between Dover and Day? Anyone know when it will be finished, whatever it is? I can't even remember what used to be there.

I am adding the tag "development" to this post. If you click on the tag, you'll see a whole history of earlier posts about this site. What was there before was a yellow office building with really tiny windows, which had originally been built as a Parke Snow department store.

Parke Snow department store? I've never heard of this place before an couldn't find anything about it. I wish Davis had more shopping destinations instead of the many burrito joints. Wouldn't that be nice?

Meh. I really could care less about have yet more places to buy things, given the proximity to Boston, and am much happier to have places to go with friends, share some food, and talk to each other.

Parke Snow went out of business a long time ago -- way before I got here, probably in the 1960s.

It would be nice to have both, though. There's no place to buy new shoes or men's clothing in Davis. In many ways today's Davis Square is a better place than 30 years ago, but this is a big exception.

...what is being built on Broadway by Teele Square, perpendicular to Hawk's Cleaners?

Is that the former Logan Post VFW? I know they went out of business and were demolished, but know little more. It was briefly discussed here.
