tree pick up

Does anyone know when Christmas Trees will be picked up. I put mine out last Tuesday and mine (along with several from the street) is still there. The city web site said they would be picked up on trash day. Mine is blocking the sidewalk. I keep moving it, but it ends up in the street, or back to blocking the sidewalk

Same here. The Somerville website says to put the tree out for trash day and it will be picked up within 48 hours but mine's been theere since Wednesday. I meant to call the city yesterday but totally forgot.

I notice the page doesn't specify which week(s)... it's definitely worth questioning.

Hopefully our wonderful town won't see fit to start fining anyone over this...

My tree did get picked up on the regular trash day. The city puts them all into a chipper-shredder and they are available as mulch if you want it. (Although they would be better for walkways than for plantings; apparently the decaying pine saps nutrients from the soil)

Whenever your trash, or recycles are not picked up on the weekly trash day, just call 311, ask to be put through to the trash people at the DPW, and tell them what wasn't picked up and your address. It almost always goes away the next business day.

Ditto for christmas trees in early January on trash days.

Ditto for yard wast on yard waste days, which vary. Usually every other week during the warm season.
