Hi there all,

While doing some research for someone in my network, I came across a site saying that my favorite perfume in the world could be found at a store called Pluto at 215 Elm Street in Somerville. Now, according to the map, that's right on the corner of Elm and Grove, and I'm pretty sure I've never seen anything like that there. Am I wrong in thinking it's no longer there? Or is it there but just really well hidden?

Any help is appreciated - it would be terrific to find someplace local that carries this scent!

It has been out of business (or at least not at that location) for several years. I really liked it, lots of cool quirky stuff.

Pluto closed in Davis Square a year or two ago. I think they still have a store in Jamaica Plain.

As an afficionado of hard-to-find perfumes, I've come to love Colonial Drug in Harvard Square. They are wonderful. I found my signature scent there: Habanita de Molinard, a fragrance that debuted in 1928, which almost no one sells besides online suppliers.

What's the scent you're looking for, by the way?

Sadly, it's gone. :-(

Yes...at least a year ago...to be replaced by a seafood restaurant because, you know, there aren't enough restaurants in Davis Square.

Does the former existence of this store have anything to do with the house on Meacham that has the Pluto sign in front? I always wondered about that...

that's the original sign. they must've have run off with it when Pluto was closing up shop.

I was devastated to move back to the area after less than a year and find the store gone. It was my favorite shop in Davis.

Still open in Jamaica Plain at 603 Centre Street, near bazillions of cool restaurants and the Boomerangs shop!

For hard to find scents...

...try John Harding's Nantucket Natural Oils shop in Newburyport. I've heard they might also have a shop in Kenmore Square. They have books and books of perfumes, and mix their own clone scents of out of all-natural ingredients. You can also design your own custom scent.
