Tomorrow night (Monday, March 5) at 6:30, the Somerville News is holding a debate between the three candidates for the upcoming Alderman-at-Large special election. The debate takes place at The Independent pub in Union Square, so you can have a beer or three while watching the proceedings.
Your moderator will be local stand-up comic Baratunde. The three candidates are:
- Jack Connolly, former Ward 6 alderman
- Marty Martinez, the city's former Youth Director
- Robert Daut, a political newcomer that I know nothing about
The preliminary election will be April 10. This will eliminate the candidate who gets the fewest votes. The remaining two will compete in the final election on May 15.
(This election is occurring because Denise Provost resigned from the Board of Aldermen on October 31, in order to concentrate on her duties as State Representative.)
