scooter stolen

Hello!  I just had my scooter stolen overnight.  It's a blue Piaggio Typhoon, looks like this:
except it's a broken-down piece of crap with scratches everywhere and all the lights and mirrors broken off or held on with duct tape.  Really, there is no reason anyone would steal it except to be an asshole. 
The thieves would have had to roll it away, so they couldn't have taken it very far -- I live on Essex Street (near City Hall) so if you are nearby, would you keep your eye out?  And write to me at marylumendonca at yahoo if you happen to see anything?

Let me note that printing out your posting, adding a phone number, and stapling it to telephone poles in your immediate area might be more effective than posting here, if you haven't already done that.

Do these things have a local network of authorized dealers and mechanics? If so, might be good to alert them, too.

I have been debating whether to do this -- what makes me wary is the idea that if the people who did it are neighborhood kids, they might just think it's funny to harass me with prank calls. but I might anyway.

Got a cell phone with caller ID? Probably a better bet than a land line. Or just your email address.

And it might be a good idea to make your poster with little tear-off tabs at the bottom, with a picture of the scooter (or the phrase "missing scooter") and your contact info, so people can take one and immediately call you if they spot it.

Sorry that your wheels got stolen, BTW. I didn't mention that in the first posting. :-(
