I'm curious too actually. I didn't get a good feeling about LaFuente. He seemed to be aloof and non communicative and the only information about where he stood on things was from the mailings he sent out, which to be honest didn't really tell me anything. Curtatone was out beating the pavement and shaking hands & talking to people.
Oh, and the Green-Rainbow Party sent out a questionaire to all the candidates (this was before the primaries) and while I didn't agree with all of Curtatone's responses, at least he gave more than one word answers.
Anyways, I'm not attacking, I'm just really curious about why you were bummed about Curtatone winning? I just want to see if I missed something really. Thanks!
Whee, look at all the blanks for alderman-at-large. From re-reading replies to my question yesterday about the ballots, I see that one was apparently supposed to select four aldermen-at-large, not just one... enh. I certainly failed to notice this fact when actually voting, and by the looks of things, so did several thousand other voters. Oh well.
Pat Jehlen sent out in her newsletter that Curtatone was outspending Lafuente 5 to 1. Curtatone approved the towing of cars on street sweeping days to add to city revenue. And there were other reasons too that I'm kinda forgetting right now.

That was my intent as well. Curatone got a lot of key endorsements, including NOW, and that was what finally swayed me personally.
Sometimes people vote for one candidate as a mistake. Often it's done as a strategy. If people feel that the vote will be close, they only vote for one person, thereby not boosting any would-be competition. (Called "bullet voting")
I have no idea how close the Alderman-at-Large race was perceived to be, though.
