Hi All,

Are there any free WiFi access points in the Davis Sq. area?

Thx,
lyjoc

There's True Grounds at Willow and Broadway.

Yep, they do. I really like Boloco - friendly staff, good food and comfy chairs.

Second on Boloco. Plus they have plenty of outlets to plug in your laptop and the staff is really really cool about letting you hang out for hours on end. Best of all, it's an attitude-free zone.

Boloco, True Grounds (Ball Square), Au Bon Pain, the Somerville Public Library (both branches), and the I-Cafe, which is up in Teele Square next to Al-Aswad Dental. The I-Cafe is open all nights but Monday and is open until 10:30pm, and the staff is super nice. Plus, hey, tasty crepes.

I just saw the library on College Avenue, but where's the other one? Is it on Highland?

The main branch is on Highland by City Hall.

there's also an East Somerville branch on Broadway. Does "both branches" mean only the two branches and not the main library?

Not yet, but they're working on it. They are also hoping to get enough business to eventually get a hookah smoking permit!

Great place, great food, great people. But small, so be sure to order your fair share of food & drink.

When I'm at Magpie (416 Highland) I've noticed that there's a wireless signal you can pickup which is set up to be open and available for people to use. I can't remember the name right now. When you join the wireless network is just pops up a message asking you not to be a jerk and abuse the network. I can't remember the name of the network right now though...

That would be "BPS_Public". Hi. I'm Jesse. We're Best Practical. And we're your upstairs neighbors. If we're ever playing music too loud, pop up and tell us to turn it down. ;)

Wow! We have open source celebrities right above us! :) It just goes to show that you just never know what kinds of businesses are in all the nooks and crannies of Davis Square.

And, have no fear about the volume of your music. Our last space was right next to Rock City Guitars so there's not much anyone could do to top that.

Thanks for providing the wireless. We have our own DSL but it's nice to be able to pop open my laptop at the store every once in a while.

And Johnny D's, should you prefer beer to coffee.

I believe Orleans has free Wi-Fi. I know I have used it before.

I've seen laundromats that advertise free wifi. Don't know if that's the kind of ambience you are looking for. I know I saw one in Teele Square and one on Boston Ave, near Tufts.

Also the White Hen Pantry in Ball Square has free wifi and several tables to sit at. The tables usually seem to be empty, so you could probably stay awhile without bothering anyone.
