Apparently resident parking stickers are now supposed to be on the windshield - not the side/rear window as has been the case for many years. I guess this is the first year of the change.

mmm... ok. Looks like I need to go to the traffic dept to prove I put it in the wrong place so I can get a replacement. (yawn).

Really? I thought inspection stickers were the only things that you were supposed to put on the windshield.

No poster, sticker decal, etc. shall be attached to the windshield in such a manner so as to obstruct the vision of the operator.

It doesn't anymore than the inspection sticker does. Heck, in my car you can't see it behind the GPS.

When I got my new parking sticker in February it came with a flier telling me to affix it to the windshield.

It's on the opposite side.

My official guess is that if it's on your windshield, you'll only keep one on it at at time as opposed to the parking sticker collages people make on their back and side windshields and which could be cumbersome for parking enforcement folks to look at all day.

I asked: they're doing it this way so that it is always in the same place. There's the collage issue (I'm guilty of that), but apparently "left read window" was widely interpreted too.

Widely interpreted? They've always provided an annotated diagram!

Just for fun, walk down a residential street sometime and look where people put their stickers ;-)

I dunno what your experience was like, but there were flyers all over the parking office, and the woman behind the counter told me -twice- where I was supposed to put the sticker, then handed me a copy of the flyer.

It was also printed on the sticker backing.

A razor blade will take it right off. They use a paint scraper for the inspection sticker.

yeah. you might have to take some alcohol to the remaining adhesive.

I renewed by mail, too, and the flier that came with the sticker had the change-of-location announcement in big freaking letters. So if you missed it you must not have been paying attention. It was quite obvious. And, as [livejournal.com profile] pheromone said, it's also written on the back of the sticker.

Am I just dumb, or is there nothing on their website explaining how to renew by mail? This post reminded me that I need to renew my permit, but it's after 4 and I can't find anything that tells me how to do it.

You should have received a form in the mail, along with your notice that it was time to renew.

I see. Oh well, I'll have to call them tomorrow then. Hopefully the overzealous metermaids won't ticket me until I can get the renewal.

Not the first year...I have four such stickers from the last four years on my windshield.
