Yes, I think it is very likely that Connolly relied heavily on his existing network of supporters from the past, while Marty worked on expanding a coalition of old supporters, progressive activists, and newcomers who haven't voted consistently (or ever) in municipal elections. I think the same will be true in the general, which indicates that even though Marty finished way ahead this time, his campaign needs to continue to work hard to repeat that win (and that if they do continue to work hard, he will likely repeat it). That's because a significant chunk of Marty's voters aren't as consistent as Connolly's, and will need to be individually reminded to vote on May 15th - and that Marty ought to pick up some new supporters to make up for those who voted this week but won't turn out on May 15th.
