When I was at Little Fish Big Fish yesterday the animal control officer was there dropping off a kitten. She's about 4-6 months old and is all grey, svelt, friendly and playful. Her previous owner is an old lady who is going into the hospital, so she isn't ferel.

Right now she's running around being a store cat because the animal control officer thought it would be the best place for her for now, but she really needs a home. She needs to be spayed.

So I said I'd put the word out because I'm not able to take her at this time (though I was sorely tempted). The ACO was very concerned that whomever took her be a responsible owner and would get her spayed and not abandon her again.

Little Fish Big Fish is on the corner of Elm and Cedar. In case the owner wants to know who sent you, I was the girl buying activated charcoal.

i'm surprised that an animal control officer purposefully put a cat in that store. after my first visit to big fish, little fish i went home and called the mspca. they skeeve me out. the adult iguanas in tanks too small for baby iguanas, the poor caging for all of the birds, especially their lack of decent food and clean water.... the macaw and cockatoo (i'm assuming they're still there) had sunflower seeds and filthy water. and their feathers were in horrible condition.

i just...

*shuts mouth*

why run a pet store if you don't have high regard for animals?

I've wondered this myself, and for the same reason. BFLF is nasty, but the pet store in Allston is abominable. The only nice pet stores I've found in the immediate Boston area are the chains. It's sad.

Thanks for the word about the kitten.

i don't know... when i called the woman on the phone was like, "oh yeah, them." i don't know what's happened. it's probly worth taking another trip down there soonish.

all the calls that go in about them, the better.

i think one of the problems is that the mspca officer that stopped by (if one stopped at all) probably didn't know much about reptiles and birds. hrmph. sigh.
