A sign in the vacant store window at Mass. Ave. and Allen Street announces that Spark Craft is coming soon to that location. I don't know if this is an expansion, or if they are leaving their current Davis Square digs.
I'm pretty sure it's an expansion, although they might be moving. That location is challenging for them, since it's fairly hidden and really doesn't get any walk-in traffic.
As far as I know, they're moving--they have a sign up in the door at the current location that they'll be closed for a few days (don't remember dates; sorry) while they move down to Porter.
From their website, in the About Us section: Once Spark is well established locally, the women would like to roll out additional Spark Craft Studios locations first regionally and then nationally.
So, I am going to guess this is a new location. Then again, their current space is sort of tight and tucked away, so maybe they are stepping out to a more visible location?
Definitely moving. Signage on the Davis store says so as do little notes in merchandise bags after making purchases...so says a serial crafter/Spark shopper i.e. me.
Oh, and they're closed June 28-July 7 for the move.
The interior space is on one level, but there is a four-inch-high step between the front door and the sidewalk. It's the former location of Anokhi, in the same building as Bob Slate's, on Mass. Ave near Porter.
