non-fratty dancing around boston
Jul. 16th, 2007 05:38 pmhello davis square-ites,
i know this is not necessarily about davis square, but i trust your advice over the boston communities:
my mom is coming to town for a technology/education conference and i want to take her and her colleagues (youngish-baby boomers) out for a night of dining and dancing- this would be easy for me to arrange if they were visiting somerville, but they are being dropped off near faneuil hall on wednesday evening and will not have their own forms of transportation. this is not an area that i ever frequent, and i need some help.
are there any places that feature live music, like folksy irish or salsa stuff? glowing restaurant reviews would also be very welcome!

Date: 2007-07-17 01:20 am (UTC)As for glowing restaurant reviews, I know others think it's too obvious, but I still love Trattoria Il Panino, just off Hanover St. It's a bit pricey, but I love the atmosphere, have always had lovely service there, and the lobster ravioli is to die for. Also the grapefruit gelato at the Gelateria around the corner is better than you'd think.
What does non-fratty mean?

Otherwise, Ryles in Inman is really nice if they want to go and dance. It is also a decent jazz bar. http://www.rylesjazz.com/
Also, across the street (sort of diagonally) is the best Indian food in the entire HUB. Punjabi Dhaba.
