Davis Square Task Force meets Mon 7/23, 7pm

The Davis Square Task Force meets this Monday, July 23 at 7 pm in the Cafeteria at 167 Holland Street (Tufts Administration Building).

I will not be able to attend this meeting, so I hope someone else can be there and post some notes afterwards. Here is the agenda:

7:00-7:15: Intros

7:15-7:45 Group Updates in Davis Square

7:45-8:00 - Burren Update on 2am License

8:00-8:10 - Introduce new Director of Strategic Planning and Community Development, Monica Lamboy

8:10-8:20 - Update on Bike Path renovations behind Brooks to the MBTA head house on College Ave

8:20-8:30 - Buena Vista lot construction - Jerry Boyle.

8:30-8:55 - Davis Square renovations and new businesses, Davis Square T Station art project

8:55-9:00 - Next Meeting

what's happening at the Buena Vista lot?

Some sort of structural repair. At earlier meetings, I heard that some spaces in the garage had to be closed because of concrete falling near them.

I really think that humanity as a whole would have been better served if the Joshua Tree had gotten that 2am license, and not the Burren.

I believe only the Burren applied for it. And why do you feel this way?

I can't say I really care for the service, or the entertainment, at the Burren. Not to mention the cover. Granted I haven't been around here during tufts season yet.

Application process

The license and the application process is the Joshua tree's if they so desire it. I believe the burren had submitted quiet a number of signatures to attain it and are currently in a 6 month probationary period testing it out. hopefully if there are problems the burren or the alderman will be informed.

The Burren is required to report back at every DSTF meeting during the probationary period, so this item will be on the agenda of each meeting for a while.

Neighbors have been concerned that once the Burren got a 2 am license, every other bar in the area will want it too. So I'd expect considerable opposition, especially since Joshua Tree is closer to residences than the Burren is.
