I recently discovered Babies' Chip cookies, and they are labeled as being from SBC company on Highland Road in Somerville. Either my Google-fu stinks, or there any web info out there about this company. This strikes me as very strange that there is -nothing-.

Has anyone out that way spotted this company on Highland Road? (Note Highland Road, not Highland Ave, so it is outside the square itself, thus making my post a little off-topic. Sorry.) I think it was number 11, but I am not all that sure and I don't have the wrapper with me anymore.

Thanks in advance for any help!

EDITED TO ADD: I verified that the address is 2 Highland Road in Somerville, which matches up with the address given for Russ Donuts. So, they must be one and the same. Yay!

Is that the donut factory where Highland Road meets the bike path?

The address matches up, so that's almost certainly it. To the OP: it's an entirely nondescript warehouse, but you can tell they're a tasty bakery from the smell in the mornings.

I wake up to that every day, pretty much. :)

When my commute began with walking up the bike path, I'd start with smelling the Secret Donut Factory, and then smell Redbones firing up the smokers for dinner right before stepping into the T. It was a great way to start the day.

But then, unfortunately, I needed to walk down into the T...

But this gives an address of 2 Highland Road, not 11.

If it is the donut factory, Google gives a phone number: (617) 623-0529 . Call them and ask (and let us know what they say).

I was just going to say, "Oh wow, they make those things at the Forbidden Donut Factory? Cool!" :)

I believe that IS it, though there is no sign on the building.

If you walk up to the door of the Secret Donut Factory, and your timing is right, they'll give you a free donut.

Really! I had thought they didn't do this any more. Tell me more about timing as I loves me my donuts, I do.

They changed ownership a couple years ago, diversified into cookies, and stopped selling donuts and muffins to random passersby. A crying shame, that.

my bad...I haven't actually tried it in quite a while so I didn't realize they had stopped. :(

I'll look out for these when I go to the Lowell Folk Festival at the end of July. (I'm also lactose-intolerant.)

Will do! What hours will you be open on Festival weekend?

An old coworker used to buy Babies' Chip brownies almost every day at Subs Express on Mass Ave. Unfortunately, it's closed. But I swear I've seen them elsewhere since then. Maybe Gourmet Express (formerly White Hen) across from the Porter T station?

I've eaten these cookies before, but this post about a mystery-factory has me worried... I hope they're not made out of peeeeooople.

I've seen their deliveries in the morning ... unless Soylent Green now comes in 50# sacks titled "Bake'n Joy", I think we're safe. ;-)

They definitely make Babies Chip stuff at that factory by the bike path. I've walked past there when they're loading up trays into delivery vans and peeked at the wrappers out of curiosity.

BTW, they carry at least a few of this company's products at the little place in the Davis station, and I believe also at Store 24 across the street.
