Hi all,

I'm going to be moving next Sunday, and I know that I've seen folks put up cones and barricades to stop people from parking during moving times - and it looks like you can get them from the city. Does anyone know how to get such things set up? My street can be a biotch to find a spot on, and I'd like to make sure that the two spots in front of my place don't get swallowed up - and I CERTAINLY don't want to have to try paralell-parking in a moving truck.

Any help would be SO appreciated. Thanks!

Here's the link (http://www.somervillema.gov/section.cfm?org=Traffic&page=349) to the form you need to reserve space for your van. :) Other pages on the site tell you where Traffic & Parking is and all that sort of good stuff. Good luck!

Be sure to post your signs 48 hours in advance. If someone is in your spot on moving day, call the police. They'll run the tags and try to find the person to get them to move their vehicle. If they can't contact that person, they'll tow it (this process can take a couple of hours, so be as proactive as possible.

Also, the city doesn't provide the cones and whatnot for mounting the signs, so you may have to use a chair or get creative with placement of your sign.
