Do any of you have a recommendation for a tailor nearby? I went to the woman who is doing my wedding dress and she said it would be a 2-3 week wait due to all her wedding alterations being done. I stopped at a place near Teele Sq and they said 3 weeks too! I need this done by August 7 as I am taking it with me long distance for a friends wedding.

Janette's been recommended several times here in the past. I have no idea what here queue is like right now. She's got my wedding dress for alterations now, but the wedding isn't until October, so our timeline is long. You could also try Eleni's in Davis Square.

Good luck! Call around. . At this point I'd take any tailor that could do it in that timeframe.

When it came time for alterations I wasnt sure where to go. I bought my dress at Camillas on Mass Ave in Arlington and she suggested I go to Jeanette.

When I first arrived at Jeanettes she was extremely busy (sat morning) and slightly abrupt with me while telling me to wait. While I waited I saw the work she had done for two women before me...their dresses looked amazing and their bustles were great. When it was my turn she was a lot nicer, showed me the options I had etc..I go back August 14th to see the cups she was putting in the chest area, the bustle, and my veil she was making. I have read a ton of great reviews of her and her prices were decent.

Same here. She just replaced a zipper for me on a pair of capris, and she had it done in a few days, and it was only $12. Well worth the cost.

I'll second this post, she altered, in less than a week, a very flouncy skirt that I needed for a wedding. Doesn't take credit cards, can't remember if she takes personal checks.
