Willoughby and Baltic will host Michael Knoblach tonight who will be spinning a collection of 78rpm records. As many of you know, Willoughby and Baltic owns a working gramaphone from 1910 and a collection of 78's, so we're big fans of the old stuff. We believe Michael will be playing from his 78 collection on more modern equipment, so come on by.

Also, if you haven't had a chance to check out Matt Carrano's paintings, now is the time. The show will probably come down this weekend so we can prepare the walls for Lee Kilpatrick's "Three Month's Apart" photo documentary which opens on August 16th.

And...

We are beginning to announce our fall classes, so far, the schedule looks like this:

Life Drawing Class, Sundays, 11-2 P.M., drop in, $15 a session.

This class is suitable for mature artists of all levels. We will observe the human figure in short and longer poses. Students will learn about anatomy, gesture, proportion, shading, contraposto, mood and expression. Bring in a large pad of paper, pencils, erasers, and/or charcoal. Begins Sept. 16th.

Instructor: Diana Rice

Beginning Drawing, Mondays, beginning Sept. 17, 7-9 P.M. 5 weeks, $150/nonmember, $130/member.
This class is designed to give students a solid foundation in the fundamentals of frawing. Students will develop the skills to render a form 3-dimensionally. Observational techniques, composition, line, and shadow will be explored as students engage in a variety of exercises, using still life objects and eventually the model.

This class is perfect for beginners with little or no experience drawing, and a good refresher course for the artist who wants to reinforce their skills.

Instructor: Diana Rice

The Art of the Portrait, Tuesdays, beginning Sept. 18, 7-9 P.M. 5 weeks, $150/nonmember, $130/member .
Students will develop the technical and interpretive skills to help them render the human face. We will cover technical aspects such as posing the model, lighting, background, composition, proportion, and shading. Interpretive aspects of mood, gesture, expression, and abstraction will also be covered.

Friendly Art Crit, Sundays, 3-4:30 P.M. Drop in, $10/nonmembers, $8/members.
Come by the gallery and show us the latest piece you’ve been working on. The crit will be moderated for optimal productivity. This is a great opportunity to get feedback on your work from people in the arts community. Share ideas, opinions, encouragement, and constructive criticism on other artists’ work. Connect with new people in the arts community.
