I have been a lurker in this community for a few months now since I moved to Somerville. What a great resource! I am curious as to if there is a Davis Square myspace page. If anyone knows of one and could share it, that would be great. Thanks!

I don't know of one. I will have to admit that I do not really understand the purpose of myspace, other than as a place to promote bands and concerts.

Here are a few myspace pages related to Davis Square that I found through google:

Somerville, Massachusetts (I don't know whose page this is. It is nearly unreadable.)
Save Our Somerville (SOS)
Somerville Journal

Starbucks Open Mike Nights (every Wednesday)
The Burren Sunday Night Songwriter Series
HONK! Festival, October 5-8
Jimmy Tingle's Off Broadway
Johnny D's
Independent Film Festival of Boston, every April at the Somerville Theatre, plus some occasional showings during the rest of the year

Poor Little Rich Girl
Magpie
Second Line Social Aid and Pleasure Society (brass band)

You responded to my earlier comment, but when I came here to reply, your comment was gone.

In any event, if there's no Davis Square page now, feel free to create one and let us know about it. I'd be happy to link to it from the "Useful Local Links" section of this LJ community's profile page. Be sure to link back to this community from your page if you create one.

Where's the one that already exists? (My cursory search didn't find it.)

If you do, please keep it simple and readable. The Somerville page is a graphic atrocity.

This begs the question of whether we should have some sort of triage for the "Useful Links". I mean, would a Davis Square MySpace page be useful? We can link to it, sure, but perhaps we should have a smaller list of actually USEFUL links, then a separate bunch that are simply pages related to the area.

I'd hate to think I was purposely sending someone to MySpace, after all. :]

I've been accreting links on the profile page, but perhaps I've got too many now. I welcome comments from other moderators and the community at large on this subject.

(Links I was thinking of adding: Somerville Theatre, Johnny D's, Burren, Jimmy Tingle's Off Broadway)

I think you've got it pretty well-organized. I would suggest bumping the MBTA up with the gov sites. This grouping seems more random; I almost want to suggest putting 2 & 3 in their own subgroup of political & politically charged things, but then you've just got two (unles there's another that I'm missing)

Friends of Lexington Park
Somerville Transportation Equity Partnership (STEP)
Progressive Democrats of Somerville
som|dog - Somerville Dog Owners' Group
Somerville Garden Club
Davis Square Flickr Group

Just $.02 from a librarian. :) Ignore at will.

Moving MBTA.com up is a good idea. I'll do that now. The rest of the list is a bit random, I'll admit. Other suggestions for improvement are welcome.
