Meetup?

Hey, back in August we sort of consensus decided to have a davis_square meetup on Saturday, 8 September 2007 at 5pm.

Is that still gonna happen?

Mike's was discussed, Diesel was voted down (mainly because people ALWAYS meet at Diesel), and the original idea was to meet in the big open area with benches and easy access to ice cream out in front of JP Licks (which gets my vote - we can always adjourn to Mike's).

Will our organizers (thetathx1138 and ifotismeni) have signs and "Hi my name is..." tags? Will there be tags available for the rest of us? And, most importantly, WILL THERE BE MARKERS?! (For writing on the tags, of course.)

The suspense is killing me! (I hope it lasts.)

I'm afraid though I suggested avoiding Diesel, as soon as it went to Saturday afternoons, I had to bow out; I'm working until 6, and travel means it'd be 7ish before I got up there.

The weather will certainly support an outdoor meetup, anyway. I don't know if I can make it, but it seems sad for it not to happen after all that discussion and agreement.

Unfortunately I can't go because of a party out of town that I'd previously committed to, though I'd wanted to make it. Hope you do get a group together, though. Have some ice cream for me!

This is a link to a FREE scoop of ice cream at JP Licks. I tested it this morning to make sure they are accepting it at Davis Square and THEY ARE. Limit to one per customer and it expires 9/12.

Print out a few extra and make some new friends. Your mileage may vary. Can't guarantee they don't get pissed off and shut you folks down.

If it doesn't work out for today, might I suggest a weekday evening? A lot of people's platters are full on weekends, but those same people (including me) might have more availability on, say, a Monday or Tuesday evening.

I was planning on the Redbones party if my money stretches that far (after the move; rent somewhere else, plus first last and deposit here, I have $17 in my bank account and $10 in my wallet, but Tuesday is payday).

Sorry about that. The other things I had planned for Saturday were canceled so I made other plans, and didn't realize that Quabbin is actually in.. well, Quabbin - 70+ miles west of Boston. Also, the 2 hour walk ended up taking 3+ hours because of the heat. I didn't get back until almost 5, but was too tired to do anymore walking.

I'll try to plan better for the next one.

I showed up late, cuz I needed to grab a shower after moving a bunch of old boxes for a friend.

And I saw no posters, no stickers, no people looking for other people... I was wearing beige shorts and my gray ARTBEAT t-shirt (with the yellow and orange Art Beast in the upper left corner). I got a vanilla shake from JP's and sat on a bench, reading Fun Home and peering around until the thunder started (around 6pm).
