I posted this to the freescreenings group and have been encouraged to share with the davis_square group as well.
This is part of a master list I have developed called "Joe's BFF (Boston Free Films)." I'm absolutely amazed by the number of free film screenings that go on at Tufts, MIT, Harvard, BU and elsewhere and figured I would compile some lists so everyone else could see all these great films for free.
For general events and all kinds of activities at Tufts, check out www.tuftslife.com and you will see an overwhelming schedule of things. Just this past weekend, I saw "28 Weeks Later", "300" and a French film hosted by the Romance Languages Dept.
If there's an appetite for this kind of stuff on a regular basis, let me know and I'll see what I can put together. I'll be unemployed soon and looking for an excuse to get off the couch.
Anyway, here's the deal with the weekend film series at Tufts:
http://ase.tufts.edu/filmseries/ -- the current schedule of films is up for films through November 4th.
The screenings are free, the organizers don't care if non-Tufts affiliated people come (I've been doing it for 2-3 years), and are shown on film not video (be prepared for tech problems because the projectionists are Tufts students and often beginners).
Usually they rotate 2 films on Thurs-Fri-Sat nights and Sunday afternoon with 1 film on Thursday and Sunday, 2 on Friday and Saturday. The exact film times aren't on the web site for all the films, but you can always check www.Tuftslife.com starting on Tuesday or Wednesday to get the exact schedule.
Upcoming films: Stranger than Fiction, Bug, Shrek the Third, Dead Man, The Host, Hot Fuzz, Shaun of the Dead, Black Snake Moan.
All films are in Barnum Hall Room 008 (go around to the back entrance) and are usually nowhere near full.
