... hello Davis Squarians (Squarites? Squares?)! I just discovered this community... which is timely, considering I just moved here a month ago from the wilds of Dracut, MA.

definitely love the Square... I worked around here for a while and practically lived at Taqueria Anna, so it rocks to be in the area.

please forgive the newbie question, but here goes... where in the area (not necessarily right in Davis) can a guy get a decent haircut? by decent, I mean more high-class than Supercuts, but where a haircut won't cost me an arm and a leg either.

thanks!

I have gotten decent haircuts at Dante's on the square (at the start of Highland Ave, near the UPS store) and Razors, further up Highland on the right, a block or so before the Cedar intersection. It's $20 or less (with reasonable tip) at either place.

I like Mario's, 75 Holland Ave in Davis. 617-666-8210.

I go to Salonika, right down the street from Poor Little Rich Girl (Holland St?). Guys' cuts are $28 I think. Ask for Soula, the owner- she is AWESOME!

Poor Little Rich Girl (Holland St?)

That's on Highland if I'm not mistaken.

One of those! I live in Boston and just come in to get my hair cut. Sorry.

(I'm assuming you'll say yes) - you'd recommend them for women's cuts as well? I've been looking to switch hairdressers... :)

Absolutely. Both women there are fantastic for women's cuts as well. And if you need an updo, Soula's sister Angela did a great job on me and my bridesmaids for my wedding last year. Love them! :-)

Yeah, and it's still not Newbury St. prices. The other woman who works there, Jackie, is also excellent. I think she's a little more money tho.

There's a nice little honest-to-goodness barber shop on the corner of what appears to be (I'm looking at mapquest.) Cameron Ave and Holland St., across the street from that big brick building that I never thought to look and see what it was :P Closer to Teele Sq than Davis, perhaps.

IIRC, it's a little blue building. I think there might also be a cafe nextdoor, in the same building.

I hate chains and stylists.
