When I came up the College Avenue exit of the T a half-hour ago, there was a dog with no collar inside the station, appearing as if it was looking frantically for someone. S/he looked to be an adult yellow Lab mix, possibly with some Pitt Bull judging from the head and eye shapes (I didn't find out the gender). It was very sweet and approachable and I tried to soothe it, as did others, but it wanted out of the station and someone urged it down towards the bike path, away from traffic.

It may still be in that area. This is the 3rd lost dog in or near the center of Davis that I've seen mentioned in the last week or so. If the dog sounds familiar, it's looking hard for its owner...

I admire, and Rowley and Benjamin appreciate, your self-restraint!

Wow, I just drove home from work in a panic from Burlington thinking it might be my dog (though there's no reasonable way for him to escape from our apt). People always think our English yellow lab is a pitbull/lab mix. My guy's ok though :)

Did anyone try reporting this to animal control? That is always a good thing to do when you find a lost dog ;)

I once encountered a dog like this further up Holland Street. No license tag, but after about 10 minutes, her owner came out looking for her. This dog I met had a chip, so that her owner could have her tracked through animal control. Apparently lots of pets in Somerville have these? Wonder if its the same dog. My encounter was over a year ago though.

Anyone who has a micropchip finder(ACOs, vets, shelters) can locate an owner through the company the chip came from (provided the chip has been registered, more times than not they haven't been). Chips are a great way to locate a lost pet, I wish more people would microchip their pet.

The dog at the Davis Sq T stop, a lab/chow mix, was from Medford and has been reunited with his owner =)
