Hi, I remember that someone mentioned a while ago that there was a coffee/internet cafe in Teele. I don't seem to see it anywhere, did it close? If not, where is it?

As much as I love Diesel something in Teele would be nice, I've always thought Renee's should turn into a coffee shop after breakfast.

Thanks in advance.

There are/were 2. I-Cafe was downstairs on Broadway by a dentist's office, looked a little bit like Someday Cafe meets Cafe Algiers, but has closed (it was only open for a few months.) Cafe Soleil is fairly nice but the hours are weird (I think they do a lot of catering and the cafe is only a side business...)

If you're willing to go down to Medford Hillside, there is the Danish Pastry House.

If you're over on the Mass Ave side, check out Good Food Cafe. Coming from the bike path from Davis, cross Mass Ave and go down a block or so -- it's just a little before the Greek Corner restaurant. The food is, as the name implies, pretty good. The coffee is adequate for my tastes. The couches are comfortable. And the internet is free.

And unlike Diesel, there's always room. Which doesn't necessarily bode well for a restaurant's future, so enjoy the place while it lasts.

I like Grand Prix, but they now close at 8. They've decided that breakfast brings in more people than late nights do.

I adore Danish Pastry House for many reasons, but they charge for wireless.

There was also.. Pete's was it? I can't recall the name now, on Broadway and Barton. Nice place, nice people, but they've been closed with no signs of life since the kitchen fire at the Chinese place. :/

Little Joe's! Yeah, they transformed to the Wicked Cafe and then had the fire a couple months later. I have been hoping they'd reopen, but every week they're out of business my hopes drop. They had the best basic egg and cheese sandwiches ever and were super nice.

I-Cafe was pretty awesome while it was open. The owner had a back injury last winter though, their hours got very wonky, and maybe they went under not long after that. They had big plans and seemed to host private parties regularly, so who knows when that space will open up again.

Soleil Cafe is in Teele and has either paid internet or, if you are lucky, someone's nearby free network. However they close at 3 during the week and 4 on Saturdays (closed Sundays!) so get it while you can.

I second the Danish Pastry house recommendations, and I think they're open until 9. Their internet is pretty expensive though -- more than Diesel, last I checked.

Does the pastry/ice cream shop in Teele (off Holland) serve coffee? Would they let you sit and read? I've only ever walked by it, and it's not nearly as nice as Danish Pastry House, but it might be worth a visit.

Funny this should come up...I only just "discovered" the I-Cafe yesterday while walking through Teele. The sign is still up, so I just assumed it was still in business. Now I'm disappointed!
