Can anyone recommend a good Brazilian restaurant in Somerville or Cambridge? I have a friend coming in from out of town this weekend who is interested in eating Brazilian food. Inexpensive is a plus but not a hard and fast requirement.

I've always been partial to the Midwest Grill (http://www.yelp.com/biz/TfSZgUu1Uxwcve7q1j5fLQ) in Cambridge, though I haven't been there in a couple years.

I'd recommend reading through the yelp reviews for an idea of the place.

I also like the Midwest Grill. I'm no expert on Brazilian food, though.

Also, there is Oasis (http://www.yelp.com/biz/oasis-brazilian-restaurant-medford) on Main Street in Medford.

A little-known Midwest Grill fact: You can get pay-by-the-pound takeout, and it's much cheaper than the all-you-can-eat dinner.

I like MuQueCa (http://www.muquecarestaurant.com/oldsite/) if I'm not in the mood for Churrascaria type Brazilian food. They are more of a hole-in-the-wall type spot, but the food is very good.

Seconded, heartily!
I brought my parents and family friends there and they loved it.
I also loved it, and as a vegetarian note that there is plenty of stuff on the menu that I can eat.

seconded fourthed!

Also, www.yelp.com. It's good for these kinds of questions -- you can do a search for "Brazilian" in a given town or zip code and see how each place is rated and reviewed.

Huh. You'd think a restaurant web site would make it easy to find out where they are. I can't even figure out if that web site has their address, let alone a map or directions or something helpful like that.

... ahh, they do have the address in the "Speak To Us" section. No map or directions or even a hint as to their neighborhood, though of course if someone really wants to find out the address is all that's needed. Still, you'd think they'd try to make it easy. Weird.

Oasis

there's a churrascaria on Medford Street in Somerville -- it's near Ball square, by Vinny's -- super yummy, but I can't remember the name of it.

It's actually near Magoun square, on Medford street near where Lowell street meets is. I believe the name is Churrasco. It's a small place, self-serve style.

I like Oasis in Medford, but sometimes their the meat is overcooked and dry.

If you want inexpensive and delicious, try Gauchao on Broadway in Somerville. It's small but really bright and usually nicely decorated. My sister's ex was Brazilian and that was his churrascaria of choice. They do the pay by the pound deal and have a good selection of things. They also have really good juice.
