More Fast Food in Davis?
Mar. 3rd, 2004 10:38 amThe Planning Board is entertaining proposals from the SUBWAY chain to open a franchise in the old Bertucci's site at 197 Elm Street. Does Davis really need this? We already have McDonald's, Domino's, and WingWorks and they're all eyesores that spew trash and odors. SUBWAY is a bland, corporate entity, which goes directly opposite to the funky, enterpreneurial shops and excellent food choices that have slowly been moving into Davis Square.

Date: 2004-03-03 08:15 am (UTC)The building has been empty for a long time now, it's fairly far out of Davis square proper and I don't really see it competeing all that much with the other small busniess there since even the sandwhich/sub places have a different menu and will fill a different niche.
Perhaps if there were an alternative besides leaving the building empty, if there were some other busniess who wanted to move in there, but since there isn't I think that Subway would be one of the best chains to move in.
