Somerville Snow Emergency starting at 3pm

Just got this from the somerville snow emergency email list.
The City of Somerville will declare a snow emergency today at 3 p.m. In
accordance with the City's policy, parking restrictions will be enforced
four hours after the emergency has been declared (7p.m.)

Date: 2004-03-16 06:46 pm (UTC)The problem is when the 2 or more inches of snow happens at 3 am instead of 3 pm. The snow emergency has to be called at a reasonable time to maximize compliance. There's gotta be a way to call the snow emergency so that people don't have to leave work early to move their cars, but still not wait so long moving the cars is moot. BTW, it looks like most of my neighbors didn't move to the odd side of the street. I guess it is one way to avoid shoveling out your car.
