As of midnight, The Burren wins as the place to have our social event. It was a close election, but I do not want to have to do a recount. There will be no hanging chads or conspiracy theories about diebold machines. The people have also overwhelmingly suggested we hold the event on a weekday evening. Therefore, unless there is some glowing reason why this date wouldn't work, I'm going to propose:

Wednesday January 23rd at 7pm in the Back Room of the Burren.

This is for a few reasons.

1) Wednesday night is "acoustic" night in the back room of the Burren and it might be a better musical environment to chat with others.
2) Its in the middle of the week so the bar might not be as crowded with other patrons.
3) I'm traveling out of town most of next week and the beginning of that week, and I don't want to push this event back further.

I'm not going to do anything fancy, there will be no banners, balloons or silly hats. If there is a good turn out in the back, the chances are the person next to you at the bar is on LJ so say hello and introduce yourself. I'm sure there will be people wishing to remain incognito and that is fine as well.

There is one more poll to fill out. This is to get a rough count of the number of people who will likely attend. If you are bringing significant others, friends, etc., please let me know in the comments. Keep in mind that the Burren does sometimes have private functions in the back room and therefore is closed to the public. Also, the back room sometimes doesn't open till 8pm or so. If this is the case, we will just have to hang out in the front of the bar.
