It's clear that what everyone here REALLY wants to know about is the secret history of resident parking stickers -- and I'll work on that.

In the meantime, though, here's a Connect CTY script about the latest detour required by the Somerville Ave Reconstruction Project:

This is Tom Champion from the City of Somerville with information about a major traffic detour at the intersection of Somerville Avenue and Central Street.

Beginning on Monday, February 4th and continuing 24 hours a day throughout the next five days, there will be no direct access to Central Street from Somerville Avenue. The city’s contractor for the Somerville Avenue project expects to be able to restore access by approximately 5 p.m. on Friday, February 8th.

During this period, cars seeking to enter Central Street from Somerville Avenue will be detoured to Central via Beech and Cypress Streets. The bus station on Somerville Avenue opposite Central Street will be replaced for the week by a temporary bus stop at Beech Street.

Although Somerville Avenue will remain open to traffic during this period and although Central Street will be accessible via the cars-only detour, drivers should consider alternate routes if possible.
