Hey all, I checked the City's website and didn't see much: I need to attend some sort of meeting, council thing, semi official meeting or event or something and write a news story about it. Does anyone know of anything not listed on the calendar going on THIS WEEK? My schedule is really crazy so all times and days appreciated.

Also, the place I get my eyebrows threaded at (Salon 350 on Newbury) just upped their cost to $15, is there a cheaper place around? or anywhere really, I just don't want to pay that much when I used to pay like, $11.

Thanks in advance!

Which newspaper are you writing this for -- the Journal, News, Powderhouse, Globe, or Herald? They didn't suggest some particular meeting that is worth covering?

There's a LOT Going on at City Hall

The School Committee is meeting tonight.

The Board of Aldermen's Committee on Legislative Matters is meeting on Tuesday at 7:00 p.m. Agenda is here:

http://www.somervillema.gov/calendar/eventdtl.cfm?id=4920

On Wednesday, no fewer than 3 BOA Committees (Licenses and Permits, Confirmation of Appointments, and Finance)
are all meeting one after the other starting at 6:00.

And, on Thursday, there will be a special meeting of the BOA to talk about the East Somerville Community School -- but most of that will probably be in executive session and therefore not open to the public.

All the committee meetings will be wide open though.

As for cheap eyebrow threading, I must confess that I'm at a total loss.

It's not a government meeting, but Somerville Transportation Equity Partnership (STEP) is having their monthly meeting tonight at 7 pm at the VNA on Lowell Street. This is the citizens' group that has been advocating for the Green Line extension.

One more idea: Progressive Democrats of Somerville, tomorrow at 7 pm at the Methodist church on College Ave.

I don't know if that falls under hair or spa and salon, but try looking at the old posts under both tags. BTW, asking on [livejournal.com profile] davis_square about a salon on Newbury St. in Boston is unlikely to be useful.

I don't know if she does threading, but worth a call. She waxes me and several of my friends and is sweet and inexpensive ($12 for a brow wax and tweeze)

Try Dente's on Highland. I'm sure they'd be happy to thread your eyebrows for a minimal cost.

Make sure you select "Weekly View", otherwise you will see only today's meetings. There are lots of them, surely you can get to at least one.
