I don't mean to be rude, but your promo image is something that should be behind a lj-cut to make it a bit safer for work-surfing folks.

That's very much not the right answer.

I understand what you're saying, but you're still not listening to the original point. I, for one, am free to browse the web at work under my own discretion. That's not going to get me fired. However, all it takes is one jackass posting something inappropriate at a non-ideal moment to get me in trouble.

I didn't the image in your original post was risque enough to merit a comment from me, but I'm glad that [livejournal.com profile] enochs_fable did. Your response was half-assed and confrontational, which was pretty uncalled for. Trust me, I know how to be a dick on the 'net; I know it when I see it, and I just saw it.

If you don't know how to do an lj-cut, here's how.

And yes, you can still edit a post after you submit it.

i know how to lj-cut.
and i know how to edit a post.

Ah, good. Many people don't, and I'm glad you have that level of knowledge. Now let's address your attitude.

The original poster has a legitimate concern. Reading a community bulletin board, one doesn't expect to abruptly find a large photograph of a naked woman, however artfully composed. Your response to the poster was completely off the mark, and at this point, you're generating nothing but bad publicity for your cause with your peevishness.

Next time, try something like, "I'm sorry. I think it's a nice picture, but I realize how it might be inappropriate in some places where people are reading this. I've put the picture behind a cut. It's for a good cause, and I hope you can contribute."

So you are unable to believe that in some work environments, having your boss see that picture on your screen (rather than the mere fact that you're surfing) could get you in trouble? And I don't want to hear an argument about whether your boss should or shouldn't take issue with it. For many of us, being able to surf for a few minutes to take a break from work makes the day a lot more tolerable. We shouldn't have to worry about whether this LJ community is work-safe. While my workplace allows a wide amount of latitude, many people's do not.

You didn't seem to want to listen to the issue originally raised, you just immediately got your back up. This isn't (or shouldn't be) about trashing people, it's about setting community standards so we can keep an open discussion while still remaining work-safe.

I would love to go to that - be sure to post a reminder as the date draws near so I don't forget. I have a hard time finding clothing that isn't made to fit Fiona Apple types - this should be fun!!!
