May meet-up

We have to decide May's location. We should do that sooner rather than later so I can have time to contact people and see if its okay.

I'm personally leary of Sacco's just because we have to rent the lanes ahead of time and so we would need to know fairly specifically how many people will be there. Since things come up and people can't go, or other people decide last minute to go, its not an easy thing to predict.

P.S., had to delete and repost because LJ does not let me edit polls.

EDIT: Whatever the results are by Friday morning (9am) will be "official".

I went to a meetup at the Underbones bar a couple weeks ago, and it didn't seem any more noisy or crowded than the Burren did at the Feb. (or was it Jan?) meetup.

I don't think I've ever been to Underbones when they didn't have loud music playing, and I don't recall that the Burren had music on in the back room until the band came on.

If it ends up being Redbones, be sure to check with them first because they aren't big group friendly without notice. Theatre@First used to occasionally go there after shows in groups of about 30 and they detested that. Oh snap.

Joe Sent Me is a great place. The owners and bartenders are incredibly nice. Just be aware that Joe Sent Me has trivia night every Tuesday from 8-10pm. It is pretty much guaranteed to be packed there on any Tuesday evening.

Yes, avoid Tuesday because of trivia. I'd recommend Monday for Joe's, because when I've been there on Mondays, it's ghostly quiet and the waitstaff look desperate for something to happen.

Given the unreliability of internet polling, I think you should feel free to exercise your own judgment. For example, if there are a clear top two or three, find out which venues would actually welcome us most.

I'd much rather go to my second or third choice if they're going to treat us well than what might have been my first choice is going to blast the music, not give us happy hour food, and just be annoyed at the group.

I bet if you posted a poll asking if we trusted you to make the final call, you'd see we do. But even if we didn't, you could disregard the results and do it anyway.

But I have to say I'm leary of Redbones. I don't think it will work, way too packed and too noisy. But hellgirl13 knows the manager and I'd like to at least get her take after talking to the manager whether it is feasible and what they might offer (ie, setting aside tables, food, etc). If it wouldn't work, then we would go with the second choice.

Assuming that ends up being the winner, of course.
