Harvard Vanguard Pharmacy - Davis Square

Hi All,

I just got 100 Loratadine (aka Claritin) for my allergies at Harvard Vanguard Pharmacy for $8.00. I learned that the over the counter medicine there is for sale to anyone and its at crazy low prices. A bottle of cough syrup is something like $1.24. I go in for my yearly bout of allergies and always forget that they are there the rest of the year.

I talked to a few friends and they also didn't know the pharmacy even existed. 100 generic claritin at CVS/RiteAid etc would be 30-40 dollars. So if you are ever in Davis and need over the counter meds, cough drops etc. Check out the Harvard Vanguard Pharmacy on Holland St 2nd floor in the brick building attached to Au Bon Pain. You can save a ton of green in these trying economic times.

Yeah, not just otc meds, but also things like sunscreen, pregnancy tests, ointments, banjos. Ok, not banjos, but you get the idea.

It's pathetic that I work near there and get many prescriptions through them, yet have never really explored the other things there, since I can't check the prices myself, and there's usually a line behind me that I don't want to hold up.

However, that is a really good price, and clearly I should be getting more OTC things there! Thanks for the reminder.

(ETA: Oops. I was thinking the one in Harvard Sq, but I think it might be similar.)

I don't know...I was thinking about the Harvard Pharmacy in Harvard Sq, where even "over the counter" things are behind the counter, so you have to ask to see them.

It's entirely possible this Davis Sq place is nothing like that, but clearly something I should check out, with those prices.

At the Davis one everything is behind the pharmacy, but there is a display of some of the stuff. It not like a store, but like you said, with those prices its worth asking, since its walking distance to the new CVS anyway.

Whoa, that is cheap! I wish I had known that when I had a viral sinus infection a few weeks ago, and paid an arm and a leg at Rite Aid, but now I know. Good stuff.

They told me you don't need to be a member.

I'm not sure if you need to be a member there to even use the pharmacy for prescriptions. I mean in theory anyway. I might get my prescription refilled at CVS, I have a coupon off a receipt that would give me a free 25$ gift card.

Hrm. I think I'm going to ttake them up on the claritin offer. I'm a BCBS member, and I'll ask if they can Fill scripts for them. I'm using Rite-Aid right now, and they suck only slightly less than Walgreens did.

The lobby has a sign saying that they fill BCBS prescriptions. But isn't claritin over-the-counter now?

I got Sudafed for less than a dollar for 20 pills. It's pretty sweet.
