Found on the corner of Winchester and Newbern (strictly speaking, Ball Square but i see no Ball Square group.  Cross posted to West Medford mailing list, [profile] somervillemass and my LJ at large, and tomorrow i'll get Somerville Alleycat Advocats notified):

6-8 month old young calico female cat.  Quite friendly and in good health, scared but otherwise fine.  May have been shut in our basement by accident for 2-3 days, so since Thursday or so.

We have no time to post flyers tonight, but will do so tomorrow (Sunday 20 April).  If you think you know whose cat this is, post a comment here and notify them that she's fine.  We aren't home tonight, hence the inability to post flyers just yet.   If anyone has a lead on whose cat this is we will be in touch tomorrow during the day.

I may get some flak for this, but.....

I have an outdoor cat who is very chatty with people who walk by and on occassion will follow people for a house or two meowing. One time someone thought she was lost because of this behavior and brought her home and postered the neighborhood -- even though she had just been let out about an hour earlier. When my roommate went to go pick her up, my cat immediately jumped out her arms and ran home.

So, the moral of this story is -- are you certain this cat is lost? Even if she was locked in your basement, it may be worth feeding her and sending her on her way. Cats are pretty good at finding their way home.

My dumbass cat fell out of a second floor window on Friday, but as he has done this before at our previous apartment, I had the foresight to take the chickensh*t outside and show him where the door is (aka, where he can cry his brains out till we notice).

That being said, I appreciate you taking in this cat, and posting here, because if my dumbell cat fell out the window when I wasn't home, I'd like to think if he went wandering, someone would scoop him up before he got ran over by a car or starved under a bush.

don't know if this helps, but i've seen her a few times down by pearson rd. she's always been skittish and not approachable, or i would have brought her in - i'm glad you caught her
